Hey everyone this is Tuesday with Mia!!
As you all know October is GLBT History month. Yay for queers! With this celebration comes many thing. i.e. National Coming Out Week (NCOW), University drag shows, etc. However, how much publicity do we see on mainstream TV? Any? If so, how much in compared to other "cultural history months"? These are just questions that have come up in my mind. Something to think about.
I said I would post some links to the sites I'm referencing so here goes. I want everyone to go check out these sites as well as many others, don't just take my word for it.
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC): http://www.hrc.org
Wikipedia Hankerchief Code: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanky_code
Other Gay Symbols: http://www.stonewallsociety.com/gaysymb.htm
An article about the nautical star tattoo. http://www.articlegold.com/Article/Nautical-Star-tattoos-the-history--meaning... This is just one article. There are many many on this subject.
This was a fun topic to do, I hope everyone enjoys!
I find symbolism something very interesting to look at when we consider our own personal histories, or the histories of our communities.
Peace!

well I want our viewers to be able to look at other sites and such to broaden their knowledge on queer issues. the more we as queers know the more powerful we are. knowledge is power if you ask me =D
