Follow yourself not other people - otherwise you will end up not knowing who the hell you are. If you really love music - go play ,or learn an instrument if you have to. Be creative yourself and that means thinking for yourself - not GaGa or some other pop puppet inspiring you to commit to a life of hollow worship. Hey I've been there, I know what I'm talking about, so I am hoping to be helpful and constructive.

Why is everyone hating on Gaga? Florence loves Gaga, and Gaga loves Florence.
Also, Gaga's music is very non-mainstream for those who are saying she's a 'manufactured' pop act. If she was, she would sound like everyone else on the radio. Listen to her actual albums rather than what you hear on the radio and you will hear some good rock, soul, and alternative pop music.
