here in the frozen north-(Toronto) my kale is STILL GROWING-I cannot believe it-I am so crazy about these veggies-I am hoping and praying it can make it to January-we do have dino kale "palm trees" in our back yard-but I think once the heavy snow comes it will be game over for the kale

It's such a hardy plant. Does covering it help at all, or is the snow all encompassing? I feel very fortunate we are able to grow it pretty much year round.

we have no snow yet-I have considered covering it with Autumn leaves for winter growing- I will probably have to harvest some time in the next few weeks and store it for winter use-but I am going to keep one or two plants out to test the extremes kale can endure-I will try to keep you posted. I just love this plant, thanks for sharing

OK-it has gotten really cold now-a bone chilling -12 celsius-10 Fahrenheit -the kale (Dino) literally snap off the main stalk like icicles-once brought into the house they thaw out with no wilting and yes they taste sweet and yummy-there is not a lot left, but what is left is amazing-I am not sure why this vegetable is not more popular in northern states and Canada as it really is so productive for so long-6 months and counting-thanks again-I will try to snap photo and send soon
