Citgo Oil Refinery And Carbon Plant, Lemont IL.

Since some people have been asking me about the industries the BNSF and CN locals serve, I decided to post a video of one the biggest. The Citgo Refinery. The tracks in the foreground belong the the CN Joliet Subdivision. BNSF runs on the other side. Also look at 2:43. Amtrak Lincoln Service #301 runs South.

@BoxcarFrank dude go for it, going by here at night and in the winter is amazing, you can really see the heat come from this place. I'd get out the tripod and stand there, but even though you are on Romeoville public property when standing on New Ave, Citgo bitches will confiscate your stuff.

About 30 years ago, a few miles south of this Citgo oil refinery was the huge Texaco oil refinery in Lockport, IL and on the same road. It closed down when Texaco pulled out of the Chicago area market in the early 1980's. Many of the storage tanks from the Texaco refinery still exist and apparently are still in use.

@mastamase you buy crude, refine it, and sell the finished product (jet fuel, gasoline, etc.). Is there demand? Is that a hypothetical question? Yes, there is ENORMOUS demand for oil.

I work for a company that has an IR (infrared camera on that place 24.7 with them knowing. Its not illegal as long as you're not on their property. Got some awesome pictures of it at night while I was up there working.
