  • This was the last song played on Schlachtschiff Bismarck on 27th May 1941

  • @Victor20376 What is it with you? Read the comment.... Does my comment say it was playing at the ship sank? No! The survivior's comment was that the last music he remembers being played over the ship's tannoy system was this song!! He did not say "As the ship was sinking they played this song." He said it was the last piece of music played on the ship. Do you understand that? It was the last music played on the ship before the battle? He was there - it was his comment. Not mine!!

  • its a great song in french or german! and a piece of nostalgia suppose there can never be a like for like translation from the original french, the comment from someone who remembers their grandmother singing it in german reminds us what certain songs/music means to families and memories, thanks for that.

  • Komm zurück ist meiner Meinung nach der schönste Love Song der jemals geschrieben wurde,

diese alte Aufnahme ist so schön wie ein Traum

  • Preciosa ............ César

  • My Grandmother loved this song when she was young back in 1938 when she was 16 years old, just before my grandfather passed in 1993 he played this little tune on the piano and my grandmother Hilda sang along in German when my dad and his two brothers were children back in 1963 or 64. Now that she is 89 turning 90 Me and My dad asked her to sing this song one last time and very luckily she stills remember the tune and the German Lyrics.

  • @hulsundet J'attendrai = "I will/shall wait".

The German says "Komm zurück, ich warte auf dich", "Come back, I wait for you [as you are all my luck/chance]".

  • Sorry, this ist NOT the Version with Ochestra Michael Jary at Odeon ! May be the recording with Kurt Widmann (both Schuricke singing)

  • Komm zurück? That is a weird translation. J'attendrai would mean, in my humble knowledge to French, something like 'I am waiting' (implicit 'for you').

  • the reaction of your contributors leaves one in no doubt that we shall always have war,s,and over a piece of trivia .

Stay off red meat,[They think Ego is a funny word]Shame on you.

  • Vielen Dank für diese schöne Entdeckung! Bis jetzt hatte keine Ahnung, es wurde nicht nur auf Französisch, sondern auch auf Deutsch "gewartet".

    Merci et beste Grüße

  • Yes you are 76 and I have studied German military music for over 40 years. The German forces liked a lot of sentimental songs, they were played on their Wunschkonzerts and Lili Marleen is a very sentimental song. This old sailor just said he could remember this being played on board the Bismark and it was the last piece of music he could remember hearing and couldn't remember any other music after it had been played. I respect his age and have no reason to doubt him.
