No, sorry, I've never spoken to anyone there - just seen these old dears often in passing, so stopped to take the video. They might all disappear one day. My mate's Dad had a nice cream A40 in the mid-60s, and we used to cruise down to Grey from Blackball. I said "A30s" on the video - DOH!

Yep, you are so right, it is a Morris Commercial - I'm going to go back and do the whole video again!

They're A40 Somersets, but you must know that by now. See many A40 Dorsets in NZ? I'm on the lookout for one now to 'mildly' hot rod, but they're thin on the ground in the UK, may settle for a good Devon. If only a few Humpy Holdens had made it to Blighty!

Yes, I do know they're not A30s - I was working from memory at the time. Sorry, can't help with Dorsets, Devons or Holdens...you could probably track one down over here, if you paid a king' ransom to ship it back to Blighty!

Really cool! I've only had the pleasure of seeing such cars a few times here in the US, but am crazy for old British iron (as well as US and Canadian). My ex-father-in-laws' first new car (bought right after college graduation) was a '57 Morris Minor!

Hi There. Glad you enjoyed the pictures - your ex-father in law must have been a brave guy in his day. I can't imagine many other US males in the 1950s buying tiny Morris Minors. MY cars have included a 1937 Vauxhall (bought in 1965), 1947 Austin 10, 1952 Chevrolet Deluxe, 1961 Vauxhall Velox,
1938 Morris Eight two-door, and a 1962 Rover 100 saloon. All the British cars were killed in NZ by the Japanese - that Rover was a very nice machine. Cheers.

Heya you may be interested to know I once drove Blackball to Cobden bridge, 10 minutes flat, in my first car, a '56 split-screen Morris Minor. It was running real well that day! Love the graveyard, we always look at it as we go past. Good to see it being shared :)

Ten minutes - wow! Did you have a Turbo in that thing? Are we talking down the old Back Road through Taylorville, and not across the old bridge? Glad I wasn't in the car - cheers!
Yeah, the old cars are great to see there... :-)
