@pegcage I just know because when i was in 4th grade i read in my reading text book and there was a story on Lou Gehrig Story and i was amazed and touched.

@ucantbvaness You are right, Hollywood changed the speech. Gehrig's mother-in-law was not even portrayed in the movie. You can read the speech on the web.

I might be wrong but wasn't it 16 years. and I noticed but the speech which he is saying is the one from the movie "Pride in The Yankess" as said by Gary Copper wasnt' the origanal speech it wasn't accuatly that long.
