well, technically Macross and Southern Cross are related by being "Super Dimensional" series. it should be noted that Carl Macek made the three series connected in order to meet an episode count required for syndication. Macross by itself was too short to be picked up, so he changed the definition of protoculture, and somehow made three separate stories into one. I for one like Robotech on its own, as well as the originals. I thought it was awesome then and still is today.
