From 1980, a memorable game show moment at Lt. Thom McKee wins what was then the largest single pot in "Tic Tac Dough" history: $36,800.
McKee would go on to win $312,700 on that show, setting an all-time winnings record that stood for 19 years until Michael Shutterly broke it with $500,000 on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire"; others would follow in the years to come.
The current record holder is Ken Jennings, who reclaimed it with an additional $500,000 on Fox's "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth-Grader" in 2008; he had the both the winnings and consecutive appearances records before on "Jeopardy" (which was the OTHER big television story of 2004 besides Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction) until Brad Rutter eclipsed him in the former in the Ultimate Tournament of Champions.
