  • i got a red tegu about a week ago and she/he only ate about and inch or meat. also i put her/him in a separate bin with crickets and he just layed down and did not touch them, should i be worried? i also offerd him fruits with the meat and it did not touch that either-thanks

  • Jus make sure u be careful feeding in his enclosure because they are very messy eaters and the substrate u have is ideal for him to get impacted

  • Had 2 feed my reptiles but i wanted to also add. Tegus are in fact Omnivores in the wild they eat loads of crap. Including other animals feces and its a well known fact that captive tegus eat more meat than wild. Colin has a good mix imo the fish makes it more suited for Asian Monitor who diet consist of actual fish. Tegus are smart but you have to be smarter and Mix in its fruits and veggie into meat until it learns to accept them. In the wild they have starvation as a motivation to eat it.

  • Hey Colin,

Wanted to correct you on the information you said.

"You have to cook eggs do not try to feed it a raw egg because it will make it sick with salmonella."

We do not feed them raw eggs because it can lead to biotin deficiency which they would not develop in the wild because they would be eating eggs that have been fertilized . You can also go to your local whole foods store and purchase fertilized eggs .

  • hey Colin im finally on this video :D
