Nora had her g-tube replaced with a feeding button. She lost her ability to swallow food in August and the g-tube was put it. Now 8 weeks later she gets the feeding button. The Mic-key button was very painful for Nora so daddy it helping her recover.

  • That is horrible. I can't believe how bloody that is! Poor girly :( I'm not surprised the doc pulling out the g-tube is forever imprinted in your mind because I'm sure he had to have pulled HARD!

Have you guys tried the AMT Mini One button? It's a lot smaller profile and you can still use your MicKey extensions.

Also, cloth g-tube pads (such as Button Buddies or Belly Buttons) seem to do a much better job than split gauze at keeping the stoma dry and clean. It helps with granulation tissue too!

  • @TUBEaliciousTushies Thank you for such great tips!!!! We will try all of it

  • my daughter is 3 months old now. we left the hospital in OCtober with a g-tube.. and now she has a mickey button as well.. hers looks like that all the time.. they gave me some cream to put on it. they said its from the formula buildup its just acid.. GOod luck.. and i'm glad to see i'm not alone.. it scares me to leave her with anyone.. because i'm afraid it is going to get pulled out.. they also said i have to change it every 3 months..

  • @ladybluebird03 trust me... it will get pulled but it's really not a big deal. It's been two years since Nora got her button. We surround the site with a small 2x2 gauze pad with a small hole cut into the middle. We change it everyday. It helps soak up the bad stuff. We often put a small amount of tea tree extract and water onto the gauze pad or put maalox on a q-tip and spread it around the hole. We actually uploaded a video on how to change a mic-key button. search goodentree Mic-key

  • Aww is it normal for it to be that bloody? :(

  • @Keikayoko no, the doctor really pulled hard on the g-tube she had in so it would come out. it was horrible - I'll never forget it.

  • @Goodentree You're welcome. :) I also make Med Port Covers if you have problems with the med port popping open on you. You can find me on Facebook as TUBEalicious Tushies. So many mama's are out there making lots of good stuff for tubie babies now! You can find cute backpacks from Feeding Essentials, and Belly Buttons also makes g-tube belts. You can also find lots of good things if you check out Feeding Tube Awareness. PS It's currently Feeding Tube Awareness Week!
