Eyesight To The Blind. The original version by The Who was done in Tommy, and was actually a featured drum song. The next version was done by Eric Clapton in the movie, Tommy, and of course, Tommy ended up on Broadway. Tommy is brought, in an ongoing attempt to cure him of his deafness, dumbness and blindness, to a cult who seems to have life size ceramic icons of Marilyn Monoe everywhere and other meshugas going on. It was originally called "The preacher" I think. The version I allude to here features lots of wah wah and tight leads. The extended version from the movie itself, not to be confused with the movie soundtrack, which is shorter, has a nice super-extended solo with lots of action. I sing an extra verse or 2 here and jam it out to feature the drums of Ben Jammin and Ed. Most, not all, of the songs I do for Ben jammin, or for ben Jammin and Ed they probably never heard before, and I might have run a few bars before the take for them, but that's about it, like it's pure musical comment on their end...

  • Its in Am not A. A very tricky riff to play...

  • @MrTrIcKsHoTs789 I have been using A major for years and years. Like an A blues /pentatonicscale for the leads. The best version of this song is the one from the movie. Note: not the movie soundtrack album, but you have to go to the movie itself, or the youtube clip from the movie for the EXTENDED version with the long hairy solo.

  • I like to find the version by Clapton on the Tommy Soundtrack. It is much shorter, maybe about 3 minutes long, but has one of the best solos on it I've heard. I used to have it on cassette, but that tape is long gone.

  • take it right off the movie itself, that's what I did.

  • sorry dude, I do it by ear, but make sure you check out the original Tommy version, the soundtrack Tommy version, and the actual movie itself has an extended version, very extended (different from the soundtrack, actually.)

  • @WolfmanMusic . The one I'd like to hear was the soundtrack and is much different then what is on the movie. It is much shorter and the guitar solo was much better. If I can find the cassette I'll have to post it on youtube. I just hope I'm remembering it right.

  • I'm not really sure how this doesn't have more views but I think it's pretty sweet. Not only are you wearing a pretty sweet shirt, the cover is pretty awesome. So good job, and I'm sorry that more people haven't seen this.

  • Clapton plays this song (24 minutes +) on his Crossroads 2 box set , and keeps you interested...Highly recommended!

  • The song isn't originally the Who, it's Sonny Boy Williamson. Nice cover though.. very enjoyable.

  • DUDE!! i would learn it by ear but its 1 of them songs where u simple hav to tab it
