@Fuff63 Good point you make. I've also wondered if the apparent size of the moon and sun being the same, give or take some, which causes such spectacular eclipses is a coincidence or something more.

WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

GORGEOUS! Was that an alpha-hydrogen lens you used in the first part of this? I got to work with one of those at an astronomy event I volunteered at this summer. I got a huge case of the "I WANTSES!" lol!

Great video! Was that a bride and groom that walked by 3:56?

They said that they also seen Venus coming through, so why didn't they show it to us. That would be really interesting!

No, it's a total solar eclipse, jacobey3. Like the one coming up on the 22nd July.

What a great video! This video not only shows good views of the eclipsed sun, including partial phases, but also how the sky gets dark during totality. It also shows how the chromosphere is visible for about 10 seconds before totality ends, and how the people watching this awesome show get excited about it all. I missed this solar eclipse, but have seen 4 others and it brings back great memories. I bet some of those eclipse chasers are already looking forward to their next one!

Thanks for your nice comment, Abitibidoug. It was a really fun eclipse. I've seen 9 and I'm a total addict. I love the whole adventure of getting to them.
My only regret with this one was not having gone to wide-angle sometime during totality in order to show the planets as well - but with only 2 minutes 18 seconds it all gets a bit hectic and you don't want to be seeing it through a camera all the time, just leave the camcorders running and enjoy a naked eye view.
