Vostro 1400 battery loose

I love my Dell Vostro 1400. But my laptop battery is loose. Here is a demonstration of how loose is my Dell Vostro 1400 battery. The rest of the system is great.

hi.

i bought a vostro 1400 less than two months ago, and i have the same problem, the battery is not 100% very fixed.

it's a good mechine but this is not normal, what do you recommend me to do?

The problem is with the tracks of the laptop bottom casing, which is about 1 or 2 mm thinner than the sliding grooves on the battery.

THE FIX:

Take a small piece of very very thin flexible plastic (an xray film would work as well I guess), and make 2 extremely small strips. Stick those to the bottom of the 2 tracks on the bottom casing (where the battery would slide in), with double-sided adhesive tape (these tapes are very strong). Works like a charm and is out of sight.

A little play on the batteries is not abnormal, so if it runs what's the point of this vid? Is it supposed to prove that more wiggling creates more play?

It is pretty abnormal if you compare to other laptop brands or even the dell latitude series laptops. It was extremely annoying, and you only have to do a google search to find others complaining the same.

I created the video and gave the youtube link to dell customer support so that they understood what was going on.

In any case, the problem is now fixed and I am extremely satisfied with it. It is awesome.

i don't think is vostro 1400. in vostro 1400, battery is not protruding outside the main body of laptop as it is shown here.

This one has a 9 cell battery. You are talking about the vostro 1400 with a 6 cell battery, which does not stick out. 9 cell battery keeps your vostro running way longer.

In any case, I fixed the loose battery problem (read one of my earlier comments). Now it is everything I expect it to be) :)

The battery is where it suppose to be and connected. Plastic is not as ridged as metal.

OMG everytime i pick a laptop on Dell, there's always a problem

for example:

Vostro 1500 - squeaking noice

inspiron - the goddamn laptop overheats often
