You can't even say that Franklin Roosevelt shared the same views as Obama.
The fact is that the term "progressive" used from the 1890's to the mid 1940's would
more describe the "centrists" of either party today.

Roosevelt and Obama are to entirely different progressives. Saying that they are the same is like saying that Lincoln and Glenn Beck are the same because they are both republicans.

mccain made the horrible mistake of saying teddy was his idol. why? because roosevelt is a progressive and would've openly supported obama because he liked people willing to sacrifice personal liberty to control them.

Seems this ad is trying to wed "old-fashioned strength & character" (with Churchill & Teddy Roosevelt) with a futuristic theme (stars & racing lights). But it just comes off as weird. & McCain appears plenty old even without being juxtaposed with footage of Churchill & Teddy Roosevelt. Portraying himself as a warlord (which the Churchill footage reinforced) didn't help, but that was one of McCain's few cards.
