my father was on the USS Albany in Gaeta back in 1978 thru 1980. Iwent to school there and met my first love...... Gaeta will forever be in my heart. just wish I could afford a little get away villa there so I could go back when ever I felt like it.

@JavaRatusso I was stationed on the 'Sound as well but left for JO "A" school in 1981. I was part of the crew that transferred over from Norfolk. Loved Gaeta...I ran special services with Chief Heine. It was just past the mess decks in a glass office. We sold tours, plane tickets back home. What a gig. Bouncing around the Med...stopping at places like Palma for 2-3 weeks, then back home. You're right...those were some great times.

I was on the Albany for 2 weeks waiting for the Puget Sound to arrive. I was a DS in the ADP Shop. 1980-1983 were the best years of my life. Underway every 2 weeks and always returning to Gaeta. The People, the food it was all so memorable! To all my old American and Italian friends alike I would like to pass on to you that I have never forgot you.
