This week I toured the state of the art Maersk APM Terminal Port in Portsmouth Virginia. Here, a ship carrying thousands of shipping containers (full of all the things we import...think China) docks and is unloaded by (6) massive computer controlled gantry cranes. When a truck enters this facility, the RFID chip in the truck is detected and the computers operating the cranes automatically start digging out the container that the truck is there to pick up from a stack of thousands of containers. I've seen this type of operation on the Discovery Channel but it was much more impressive in person

Cool. We can see these cranes from my house. Always wondered what they were. Amazing stuff. Wonder what qualifications you need to get a job there.

wow as another world its like a future world really interesting and amazing, the machinery is beautiful but what can a say? is only maersk sealand. good video
