Here is an original Napolitan version of Torna Surriento in true Napolitan dialect. "Surriento" is spelt this way as in Napolitan dialect.
The photo's, i took of my home town Sorrento on my many, regular visits. When you visit Sorrento your heart melts, leaving you wanting to Come back to Sorrento.

  • Surriento è vicino a Pompei?

  • si, una ventina di minuti.

  • ora dove stai di casa ?

  • Yes sung by Gigli, written by Caruso.

It will be very hard to fight back tears at a funeral, even more so with this song.

  • When I went to Surriento, it was the best time of my life. I went with the love of my life and since she has gone, I can never go back.

Grazie ancora.

I've been around the world but Sorrento & Naples are the most beautiful you could ever see. Vir Napul'e poi muor'

  • @schunizze It was written by G Battista De Curtis, and composed by his brother Ernesto de Curtis, in 1904. Caruso regretfully never recorded this song...He spent his last days in Albergo Vittoria, a beautiful hotel in Surriento.
