Rep. Slaughter: "I appreciate my Republican colleagues for providing the American people with the clearest possible demonstration of how stark the differences are between the priorities of our nation's two major parties. We have before us a bill sole purpose is to follow as much as $1 trillion over the next decade to a mere handful of our nation's richest families. It is telling that Republican leadership is so committed and so determined to see this legislation through that it called an emergency meeting of the rules committee last night to make sure it reached the floor this morning even though this will not take effect for four years. Now, let me tell you a bill that will expire is the Voting Rights Act, but we couldn't deal with that. This is the republican definition of a national emergency."

  • I took a job between engineering tasks for a temp agency in Houston. It was post 911... and I and several others LITERALLY built the stages upon which Bush gave 2 speeches. There was no background check or ID requirement.. and 2 of the people were Muslim. Yet Bush lives. If we are under such threat, then why, where the security was so lax, did no terror attack take place?

Because most of the threat of terror is fabricated, as in the Florida 7, to justify the executive dicatatorship.

  • Republicans are so dishonest it is unbelievable. Democrats are not a lot better but a bit better.

  • lol@money given to the rich. no offense, but if you don't tax them unfairly, it doesn't mean that you give them money.

  • Agree,wholeheartly!

  • Maybe they should stop doing stuff. It seems the more they do, the more the country goes to hell.

  • Politicians, all of them, need to do something beside talk. Telling us something we already know is wasting time and our country is going to hell. DO SOMETHING!

  • Well said.
