  • @wschrad I disagree, so many pianist do not engage the piano fully with their whole body. To only communicate through the instrument with your fingers is wrongheaded and cuts you off from expression. The whole looking at the artist in the auditorium tradition perhaps is the problem, frankly who cares what Keith Jarrett looks like while he is playing.

  • I learned recently to play piano and guitar a little better, and this brought me to the internet again. As I clicked through a bit of vid stepping, I came apon a piece (below the one I had actually been looking for) of cool, fantastic piano playing.

Today I found Keith Jarret. I wonder who I might find tomorrow?

Don't you love music?........and the internet.

  • @y34r What do mean by that? what about your channel comment page?

  • improvisation is like asking a novelist to 'spin one out' in an hour. Its silly. To raise spontaneity above the intellectually rigorous and creative is just too much to ask

  • video response:

    watch?v=SwtbdO2uZNo

  • @90lollodona ,,i guess you do not get my joke,,,, the easiest way to learn how to improvise is to transcribe others solos, transpose melodies to other keys etc,,, all instrumental composers are probably great improvisers, after learning how to improvise, playing other peoples stuff is like watching verses having sex,lol

  • @JazzKeyboardist1 well improvisation was pretty important in baroque music, as Jarret says in this video talking about Bach, and it was also fundamental in romantic music... Chopin and Liszt's studies are made to improvvise! just different way to improvise

  • improvisation was invented by sid caesar as seen in the history of the world part one
