another thing, they do not last 10 times as long in real use, only in theory do they last 5X as long. assuming you dont turn them on and off often, keep them in an open space (not enclosed in a fixture where heat builds up) and get the more expensive quality type.

you should mention the poor quality light output from florescent, low CRI, and often too high color temps, and no, the "warm" or "soft" white bulbs tend to have a pink hue to them, mercury intoxication, and LESS light output than their incandescent equivalent, and most are not dimmable.

I also learned from Consumer reports that 40 watt bulbs will be banned in 2014! I better stock up on those too!

@Blaze1024 lol 1st off, where in my previous post did i insult u? I'm sorry for hurting your utube feelings. I'l try to go easy on u next time. the FACTS u presented are simply false. again, i said MOST (not all) but MOST cfls dont last any longer than incandescents.i already presented to u "FACTS". i've used them b4 and didnt last me a year and i know ppl living in buildings where its ALL cfls and every other week or so, they burn out. I think ur upset cuz most ppl wont use ugly swigly bulbs

You have yet to present one verifiable fact to back up your opinions. At least I presented facts people can research and prove to themselves.

@Blaze1024 its not claims dude. there are FACTS. As far as the other efficient products such as washing machines, dishwashers etc etc, i'm only going by what i've heard. As far as CFLs, i have used several and none of them lasted a year. i guess there are exceptions. Just like when idiot greenies CLAIM that incandescents dont last. Well i have incandescents that hasnt burned out in 2 years. Whats even more funny about this video is that they claim cfls will help stop global warming. Hilarious!

Funny how the only people you hear making these claims are the people who support the competing technology. My personal experience has substantiates the superiority of the new technology. Not only do they last much longer, since I've switched to CFL's and LCD's my electric bill has been substantially reduced and my air-conditioning doesn't run nearly as much.
