QRNational locomotives 2391 & 1737 haul the Queensland Rail Traveltrain Sunlander into Roma Street from Cairns, 1720 kilometres north of Brisbane.
Then 2330 runs light engine in reverse to the back of the Sunlander consist. Then takes the coaches back to the Mayne depot.
Thanks to the driver of 2330 for the horn & waive - you rule!

  • why is the 1700 loco always the second loco? does it have anything to do with power?

  • the 1720's are almost 45 years old and are usually used to help bank (break) trains these days on the mainlines.

  • 2330 was used on the Westlander for a while, I saw it on a coalie lastweek assisting 2348 at Ipswich.

  • she gets around then! I don't go out west
