Britain has revoked the press license of Iran-based English language broadcaster Press TV, accusing it of violating press regulations. But some say the decision was really motivated by British geopolitical interests.

The Office of Communications (Ofcom), a government-approved watchdog overseeing broadcasting and telecommunications in the UK, says the channel does not control its content.

Phil Rees, a UK-based media analyst and author talks to RT suggesting that the driving force behind the decision is geopolitics.

Youtube will probably won't let me post. We Americans always thought that the U.K. had a much better democracy that the U.S. The truth is that the U.S. is now a banana republic. Police state, and we will eventually regain our constitutional rights! Our media has blacked out Ron Paul, botched recent elections, and Obama has signed a law that any American can be jailed indefinately without trial. The public here really doesn't even know what the Constitution is, doesn't care.

How can it make transmissions without controlling its content? Ridiculous. Also anyone who wants to watch PressTV can do so over the interent. What the pig ignorant westerners cannot accept is that everyone can see for themselves the flaws of the Iranian system and that system is doomed to collapse. Its an unsustainable Keynesian economy that is un free. No society like that can survive. Instead of patiently waiting for it to collapse on its own like the Soviets they rush to kill it. How stupid.

Let's remember that Iran doesn't like its citizens watching foreign tv stations, especially ones not owned by governments friendly to Iran. Iran is the more obvious example of an undemocratic state. It wants to control not only its people's economic behaviour, not only 'public decency', but their thoughts, their minds, as well. It has mellowed since the Revolution, but conservatives are still in power, with ultra-conservative backing. Iran is not a 'normal' country.

Thus the Orwellian society of 1984 begins, with Britain's Big brother trying to shield us from alternative views.

Propaganda or not the British people have a right to decide whether its propaganda or not, they don't need the government to decide and shield their fragile minds for them.
