Almost got run over by a sail-boat!

We went fidhing at Lake Delavan in Wisconsin and a sail-boat race broke out. There were no buoys just sail-boaters flying all over the place. These guys came within 6ft of our boat. We thought we might have to jump for it!

Don't anchor in the middle of a course and be surprised that they got close... If they have to avoid your stupid ass and lose distance, they are going to cut it as close as they can.

Wow, that's a great video of an exciting sailboat race.

Don't worry, they won't hit you. They just come close because they are trying to make the smallest course adjustment they can so they don't lose ground in the race.

They go "all over the place" like that because sailboats can't go straight upwind and the mean old race committee always puts the mark straight upwind. Hitting fishing boats slows you down, so they will not hit you.

This video was posted by a friend of mine. The fishermen were there first, quite a while before the race started. They had no indication that they were in the middle of the race area. NOTHING was marked. I feel the sail boaters were just plain rude and had no care for safety by coming that close. Even if you are in control you should not get that close.
