  • hey I have a few questions. Hey does the filter need to be on during the mating process? ( i have a Marina Slim Carbon cartrige filter that has the water pour out like a waterfall)

  • @squirrelboi01 and how long does the male stay with his young after they hatch?

  • @squirrelboi01 I leave the female in as long as she is interested in the male. If she is approaching him willingly, I leave them together. If she is getting nipped too severely or is showing fear I would take her out.

  • hey, it would be best to have the filter on during the mating process to keep the tank as clean as possible before the eggs hatch. When the eggs hatch, it is best to turn the filter on low. I have a sponge filter so there really isn't much water disruption. The less current the better.
