I was born in 1972. At 2:28 some guy is taking down the Presidential seal. Was Kennedy supposed to speak at some sort of banquet?

Yes, he was headed to the Trade Mart ouside Dallas. This was part of a "fence mending" trip to shore up Dem. support for the 1964 election. He had made his last speach that morning to the Fort Worth Chamber of commerce. He flew from Ft Worth to Dallas then the fatal motorcade was supposed to take him from Love Field to the Trade Mart. I was 12 when it happened.

It took 30 mins or so to warm up the B&W tv camera's used in those days. that is why the 1st 1/2 hour was audio only. This was the first major tragic event in US history that was not only Broadcast live on TV but was also saved on Video Tape.

Well done to Walter, he held his chin up and managed to pull through it. You could hear his voice wavering, but he held out. RIP JFK and Mr Cronkite.

There sure are a lot of words in all these comments. Most probably not worth reading.
