Yes, he was headed to the Trade Mart ouside Dallas. This was part of a "fence mending" trip to shore up Dem. support for the 1964 election. He had made his last speach that morning to the Fort Worth Chamber of commerce. He flew from Ft Worth to Dallas then the fatal motorcade was supposed to take him from Love Field to the Trade Mart. I was 12 when it happened.
It took 30 mins or so to warm up the B&W tv camera's used in those days. that is why the 1st 1/2 hour was audio only. This was the first major tragic event in US history that was not only Broadcast live on TV but was also saved on Video Tape.
