How To Make a Frozen Daiquiri

The original daiquiri, a lime-and-rum drink invented in Cuba in the late 1800s, is named after a beach near the city of Santiago. Ah, what those sun-baked bathers would have given for this frosty version of the Cuban classic!

To complete this How-To you will need:

A tall glass
Ice
A blender
2 oz. Light rum
1 oz. Lime juice
1 1/4 oz. Simple syrup
A straw
Some fruit of your choice

Step 1: Chill glass

Fill the glass with ice and water and set it aside to chill.

Step 2: Add ice, rum, lime juice, & syrup to blender

Add one cup of ice to the blender, followed by the light rum, lime juice, and simple syrup.

Tip: To make simple syrup, simply boil two parts sugar to one part water for about 10 minutes. Let cool before using.

Step 3: Blend ingredients

Blend the ingredients for about 15 seconds, or until smooth and creamy.

Tip: For added color and sweetness, add a handful of fruit, like strawberries or pineapple.

Step 4: Pour in glass

Empty the now-chilled glass and pour in the contents of the blender.

Step 5: Insert straw & sip

Insert a straw, sip, and imagine yourself lolling under an umbrella on the sun-bleached sands of Daiquiri beach.

There is a city in Cuba also called Santiago.

Google it and you will learn about it. :) Santiago is a common Spanish name.

Nothing "happened" to her. Her name is Tamara Knausz, and she made all her drink videos a long time ago. Howcast has about uploaded the last of them onto YouTube, so there's no more videos of her to show here.

All her videos have been available for viewing at the Howcast website for ages. Search for the user named "Tamara." She IS fantastic. She does it way better than the guy in this video, and she made it a fruit daiquiri to boot!
