Produced by Boxer Films and Alivan's Wand & Broom makers
Directed by Larry O'Flahavan
Edited by James Stubbs

On November 13-14, 2010, 46 colleges, 750 players, and over 10,000 spectators descended on New York City's Dewitt Clinton Park for the fourth annual World Cup, a real-life version of the quidditch game, based on the sport in the harry potter books. Boxer films came to capture the spirit of the event (and the game) that is sweeping the world.

  • I'm genuinely surprised at how many homophobic, anti-nerd, and anti-fun people there seem to be in the comments. How did they even find this video anyway? Searching for something to hate on?

Aside from that, this documentary is amazing. I love seeing camaraderie like this, and I would love to be in the crowd!

  • @ThisIDontLike Yes. Yes you are.

  • This is a lot of things, fun, childish etc but deffo not cool

  • we're the Harry Potter generation!! <3

  • START THE GAME ALREADY

  • @KyraDeAngelis Awww :( You could always get a bunch of friends together and start a league? Buy a bunch of sausages and burger rolls and hold a free bbq! That'll get some people together :D

  • is there one for 2012?

  • @AlexandertheXV how do you define a "real" sport? The dictionary says "an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc."

II think this fits the definition. The broomstick is there because, presumably they tried to recreate the game in the books as close as possible. I can think of many arguments why humanity would be fucked but this is not one of them.

  • @whielyex noo.... I live in Vienna, Austria, in the middle of Europe and we aren't cool therefore we don't have quidditch teams :((

    ;P

  • @KyraDeAngelis If you're in Australia, we have plenty of quidditch teams :D
