The statue is channeling the spirit of Cthulhu. Being in the presence of beings such as Cthulhu drives a person insane.

That'd be pretty funny, but you can't actually equip the wrench. If I didn't have the gun out I wouldn't have even shot myself. I only had it out to screw around.
