On the Rise cover

My third cover so far. The song is called "On the Rise" (as far as I know), and it's the first song in Act II of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Which you need to go watch now if you haven't already. It's on Hulu.com as well as MySpace and some other places too, I'd imagine.

After recording myself, I recorded the second vocal part (Penny's) over the first in the end. It's a really neat duet, one of my favorite songs from the movie.

Not bad... You've got a nice voice to start with. No idea about how much experience you have though...

Things I was told and worked well: feel the song, pretend you are the character and express those feelings, try and look at the audience, take time and plan out any little tricks to play with tempo/dynamics/pausing/vocal tricks. I know it's tough with a guitar, but with practice, it might be doable. :)

Definitely some good advice, I believe. If you'll look at my other videos, I have another one of myself and a friend performing this song live onstage. I think we did a better job than I did here, though we did mess up at the start of the third verse. Also, it's called "My Eyes" instead of "On the Rise," because apparently that's how the song's referred to by it's creators.

Very nicely done...there have been quite a few covers of Dr. Horrible songs as of late, and your voice fits the soundtrack the best, in my opinion. I enjoy your vocals quite a bit. Keep it up!
