@MultiGuitarman53 MRE's are also not healthy for extended use. They come into play for use with out need to heat or add water.

If you need low cost food prep, check out LDS canneries. Youtube has a lot of videos about it. Recently there was a video about getting 1 year supply at LDS cannery for under $500 see (watch?v=YPdraKHENW8). It isn't the frills, just basics, but you can get a good start on building your food storage through LDS canneries.

I'm new only a few weeks into prepping and am so thankful to those preppers who educate others and youtube. I just bought a milk cow last monday. She will calve in about a month. I have been so lost on all the letters trying to figure out what they all stood for thanks for the info. I tell folks to prepare and they think I'm nuts or say they'll come to my house. What do you do about that? My husband and I have 6 kids at home and a grandma. We just came off a 2 mo layoff and ate most our stock up
