This true and tragically inspirational story has never been told. Please also cross reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUKLFFsiQPk
Meryl Harrison, aka "The Mother Theresa of Animals" has successfully undertaken the single largest animal rescue -- EVER -- in terror ravaged Zimbabwe, despite being threatened with axes, being barricaded out, being barricaded in, and suffering (unsurprisingly) a life threatening heart condition. She has been honored by every major international wildlife group in the world for the unrelenting bravery she has demonstrated to save and safeguard the lives of literally hundreds of thousands of animals from the abandoned farms in what was once the jewel in the crown of African countries, as well as receiving this honor from the BBC in the UK.

Meryl was raised as an orphan, initially in the UK, with her twin brother, before being relocated to Rhodesia (as it was then). Her twin brother was subsequently murdered by Mugabe's thugs. She only discovered her biological mother had not died in child birth (as she'd always been led to believe) in 2006... nine months after her mother passed away. A photograph of her twins was found in Meryl's mother's wallet at the time of her death.

For a variety of reasons, 68 year old Meryl has now been reduced to living in a council bedsit apartment in the UK, barely existing off meager government benefits, with not a single friend anywhere near her, having been finally forced out of Zimbabwe 18 months ago with only two suitcases to her name. Despite having a gammy leg and a pace maker in her heart, Meryl is seriously considering returning to Zimbabwe to continue her work. I beg and beseech you to show Meryl there is another way to make a difference by telling her story... a "Born Free"/"Gorillas in the Mist" life changing epic of the Meryl Harrison story. Will some film producer make this blockbuster? Please email me for more info: lynn@lynnsanter.com

  • people you are so pathetic! you are a victim of media! rather you'll save a animal to a human. A lot of money spent on this PETA shit and stuff and many people in the world are dying! You are pathetic backwarded and many of you I bet you're zoophiles, especially the old ladies crazy about they dogs! I bet they fuck with the dogs! Fuck off! You make me sick!

  • deze,side,is,eng,

  • Actually, the 'problem' is mostly a long chain of natural and man-made disasters (mostly drought and famine,) lack of available education, civil war, and exploitation by countries that care more about cheap labor and natural resources than they do about human beings.

At least the problem with you is easier to pinpoint. Being plain stupid isn't nearly as complex a difficulty as societal and political turmoil.

  • I cannot comprihend the evil of some so called human beings. I mean, what goes through their minds when they are beating some defenceless animal?? They don't deserve to live!!

  • nope problem is they just cant leave each other in peace..... just keep startin wars.

  • the problem with africa, is that there are too many africans.

  • humans being cruel to animals is totally terrible. thank god we have people that rescue animals from cruelty. people that do cruel things should have not been born and their [parents that raised them should have not been born either. thats my opinion. theres too many selfish and cruel people in the world.

  • Why hasn't anyone made a movie about this woman? The world needs to know about her incredible bravery and sacrifices, not to mention the world's biggest ever animal rescue. Where are you Steven Spielberg?
