Richard Holloway was on the Andrew Marr 'Start The Week' show on BBC Radio 4 today - 27.2.12 - in a fascinating discourse with other luminaries - available for as long as it's on BBC iPlayer.
I heard Richard on a radio interview compare our moral develop throughout the ages with the journey Dorothy and her three friends took on their path to the Wizard of Oz. As in, the aspiration towards hope and away from misery is itself the pious path, even if, in the end, the Wizard is just an illusion.

He seems fairly orthodox to me. Just that he doesn't beat about the bush as others do.
