Nick Drake Introduction....in memory of Robert Kirby

I haven't been able to post in quite a long time for various reasons but I wanted to put out something to acknowledge the Oct. 3 passing of Robert Kirby and this short instrumental from Bryter Later seemed appropriate.For those not familiar with the name,he was the man who did almost all of the orchestral arrangements on Nick's records and also for many other artists.One of the main reasons I did these ND covers in the first place was to try to pick out the notes and recreate some of the gorgeous arrangements that Mr. Kirby did(and hopefully make them sound somewhat musical with the materials I had at hand here in my home studio).In the end I could never do them complete justice but just the process of listening so closely to them was a great learning experience and made me appreciate all the more what a brilliant musician he was.And I think that the arrangement on this song is a perfect example of the incredible synergy between Nick's hypnotic playing and Robert's lyrical string lines.So,thanks Mr. Kirby for all your fantastic work,RIP.

I listen to Bryter Layter all day...i visited Nick Drake´s grave on September 27th. I love his music but i am very impressed about your work i listen now for the first time....i read everything about Nick´s life and of course i heard from Robert Kirby...i didn´t know he died 2 years ago:(. The first time i discovered Nick Drake was just on e year ago, exactly on 23. September 2010. Never will forget this date!!!
