@emirates0777 not really... in reality it does not appear that dim. i have landed in jeddah airport several times at night, and it did not appear as dark as it appears here. blame it on the camera.

@WhoAviation I am sure it must be by now. It sure seemed very modern back then though. The middle east climate seemed to age everything quite quickly - especially cars. A couple of months before I went to Jeddah, planes were still using the old airport almost in the centre of the city. In fact, one of my colleagues was living in a block of apartments directly under the flightline - it was said that there were tire marks on the roof!

Fascinating! Lived in Jeddah from '81 to '84 and loved it - this airport was brand new then. This brought back so many memories and it is amazing how Jeddah has expanded to meet the airport. Thanks a lot for this.

It means "one hundred feet above decision altitude", the decision altitude being the altitude at which you decide to continue the approach or go missed approach.
