One of a group of young scientists in the WSU School of Molecular Biology, Cynthia Haseltine studies DNA and the repair of double-strand breaks, which, when improperly repaired by the body, can lead to cancers such as lymphoma and leukemia. She is using an Archaean for her research - a unique organism which lives in some of the most hostile environments on Earth.
