  • I have the exact same grinder. I used it for the first time with wheat to make some bread and the wheat does break down into smaller pieces but no matter how much I crank it I still can't turn it into flower. I also have it all the way tight and still can't get it to go right into flower at all.

    Please help.

  • @Bensontracy I do not crank mine down all the way. I cant say why yours isnt working like mine. It produces flour, but more of a "whole" wheat style. It is far from pastry flour. They are cheap means besides a rock to make flour, nothing more.

  • How difficult was it to operate that mill? You look like you're fairly strong, and it seemed like you had to use some effort a few times. I'm probably a bit less than average strength for a woman, do you think I could operate it? Would I be very sore the next day? Have your wives operated the hand mills?

  • The cheaper style shown is a bit hard with beans/pop corn. Wheat etc grinds without issue. My wife and others have used it without any issue as well. Of course trying to grind a whole #10 can will wear anyone out over time ;p

  • Got a questions, I have learned about how sprouting grains and legumes adds to their digestibility and nutritional value, would this mill work with slightly moist grain and beans or would I have to dry the sprouts before grinding them? Try it and see what happens and let me know, and also let me know if you have heard about sprouting? If you haven't, I think especially for survival, it could come in real handy. A good book to learn about is Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. Thanks man!

  • I'm 100% sure that unless its dried completely that it will just gum up the mill. Yes sprouting is a good way to get a lot of nutrients from the grains without waiting for it to grow to maturity.

  • You don`t use pop corn for your meal. It is too hard.Get yellow corn, it grinds into very good meal or flour. I do it all the time.

  • great vid i got one just like it and love it . i like to wipe mineral oil on it to keep it from rusting and lube the bushings also but be sure to clean it prior to use or you may get a run for the bathroom. for the bushings just a little smidgit is usurally good and will last a long time

  • Useful. Thanks for that.

  • @MonicaLewandowski meat grinders dont work well with grains wet or dry

  • Grinding the beans don't reduce their cook time

  • You mentioned soaking the corn before cooking with it, is that soaking before you mill or after, thanks

  • I am so anxious to get one of these from Ebay which is selling for $42 + additional shipping, so that i can use the flours i make in pancakes, muffins and flat breads. :-)

  • Bensontracy

I tried again and no luck, and I know I'm using this thing correctly. Do I need to buy a flour grinding wheel that did not come with the grinder?

  • Ok I tried it again, still the same results. I totally know how to use this thing but it does not get it to the fine flour range. Do I need a special type of grinding wheel that did not come with it when I bought it?
