Wildcats keep Red Raiders winless in conference play

Frank Martin and the 24th ranked Kansas State Wildcats made their way to United Spirit Arena Wednesday looking to improve their Big 12 road record to 2-2. They were successful 69-47, allowing only four Raiders to score. Texas Tech meanwhile was just trying to earn their first win in Big 12 play this season.

Tech got out to a physical start, especially on the defensive end as Robert Lewandowski and Jordan Tolbert kept K-State out of the paint early. Jordan Tolbert followed with a big slam off the alley-oop inbounds pass, trying to ignite a spark in the Tech offense. But for the Raiders, things began to spiral downhill fast as the 7-foot freshman Adrian Diaz sinks the top of the key jumper, while the shot clock expires.

Then the Wildcats leading scorer, with 16 off the bench, Martavious Irving lays in the easy lay-up, building K-State's lead early.

Tech wasn't done though, Kevin Wagner made the most of his start leading the Raiders with 18. True Freshman Jordan Tolbert impressed as usual, also putting up 18. Tolbert has been one of the few bright spots for Tech, leading the team with almost 13 points a game. But the strong play of the freshman couldn't prevail Tech's season-high 25 turnovers and the Wildcats' strong play inside.

The Raiders drop to 7-12 on the season and 0-7 in conference. Next for Tech is a match-up Saturday, in Columbia, against the second-ranked Missouri Tigers. For the Daily Toreador, this is Anthony Campise.
