Great vid, thanks for the memories! I lived in Angelsea Ave (Moston Lane end) from '66 - '71. My nana and auntie lived round the corner in Staveley St. Went to Harpermount school, built dens all over the clough, penny bits from the bakers (broken vanilla slices for 1p), played popping the pitch bubbles in summer on the roads, broke into the buildings that were boarded up ready for demolition. All this in short trousers 'cos our mams wouldn't let let us wear long trousers. Now got a car park! :(

Thanks for sharing these Andy. I grew up in Moston in the 1960s, lived a bit further up Moston Lane. Can remember when all those shops were there at the top of Upper Conran Street, especially the Tesco where my gran used to buy Scotts porridge oats. It was a community then, with generations living just streets apart: it you met someone you didn't know, chances were you knew someone they knew. Went back recently: it's like a war zone. A whole community destroyed. Tragic.

Nice vid Andy. I lived on Farndon ave in fact I was born there. lived there till 71. What number did you live at? I probably knew your family. Happy days and good neighbours. A real community. Manchester.Gov website has some cracking photos taken around Harpurhey in the 60s and 70s.

@dublinmanc : Welcome Dublinmanc!, your amongst your own people! North Manchester, Moston, Cheetam hill , Ancoats,New cross, Miles Plattinig, Monsall, Blackley, and loads of over areas of Manchester are built on Irish ancestry. Every time you getb the local free paper;check out the surnames of the local people, 90% of them Irish.
Thank you so much for these very nostalgic photos.I used to live in Herbert St (Winston Rd) from 1940-1953 and then emigrated to Australia. It is so sad to see how the area of Moston has declined, It used to be a really nice place. I am almost in tears looking at these phtos but thanks so much. Eileen Robbins (nee Perry)

@Patricia7602 Your welcome, It is a real shame how parts of Moston have gone.
I've seen the video a thousand time but still like to have a look every so often for nostalgia :O)

@andycoopr I think I must be the oldest one to have viewed your photos.of Moston. I have collected loads of photos off the inte rnet now and treasure them. I am writing my memoirs of my childhood so that my Australian Grandchildren will know where I came from. Thanks once again Andy.

@Patricia7602 Writing your memoirs for your Grandchildren its a great idea.
I think its important that they know there family history. A family history is the most important part of any inheritance.

Top one mate used to live in Vale Top Ave near the brook before they turned it into a tip. My grandparents both sets lived at no 2 and no4 Lowton ave and had family on Potters lane. My uncle Mo used to live in a garage just off Church road behind the big old house thats now gone. Still got 2 uncles on Lowton ave. Moston has really changed now but where we used to live isnt going to be pulled down, its being preserved Vale Top ave still has cobbled street. Nice one anymore?????
