Expanding college access and increasing student success are national imperatives. Freeman Hrabowski discusses best practices and strategies for creating supportive campus environments that emphasize faculty commitment, strong relationships among students, faculty and staff, and using technology to help students succeed.

Freeman A. Hrabowski III has served as president of The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) since May 1992. His research and publications focus on science and math education, with special emphasis on minority participation and performance. He chaired the National Academies' committee that recently produced the report, "Expanding Underrepresented Minority Participation: America's Science and Technology Talent at the Crossroads."
