yeah i think if a pet starts attack it it starts to follow the pet, you can target through pets so you can get the ghost ship to follow you.

Yeah. We speculate the Ghost Ship got unhinged from its pathing and 'aggroed' the nearest player, since its actually an NPC. You can see its point of of existance on the ground as a little swirly start circle near the front of the ship.
Its also attackable by the PPD Drones, apparently.
