One of my favorite scenes from Tim Burton's Batman - "If you gotta go, go with a smile!"

Youre wrong. The joker is a dangerous clown. Nicholsons portrayal of him was waaay closer to most comics/graphic novels/animated series than Ledgers. I mean, the Joker in the Dark Knight did not once laught maniacally. Thats no Joker, that a depressed looney with anemia and to much make-up

I'd say this joker is not unlike the pure homical maniac of the original; he's gassing an entire city of people for fun. He may not seem as evil because he has a wild sense of humor, but you have to remember that it's purely sadistic

/watch?v=-n8troSSIhU yeah, he never laughed like a maniac once did he... *cough*. Heath's Joker was much more like the later versions of graphic novels/comics whereas Nicholson's was more like the earlier versions in my opinion. And the dude you responded to wasn't "wrong". It was his opinion on Nicholson's portrayal of the character.

Yes, it is true that Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker is more accurate then Ledger's. However, Ledger's portrayal of the joker wasn't some 'depressed looney with anemia and too much make-up.' His Joker was a chaotic, dangerous and one crazy man, who enjoyed destroying the city's for order for his enjoyment. Yes, it wasn't the comic book 'Joker', but personally, i liked Ledger's portrayal more than Nicholson's. It also didn't hurt that Ledger was a freaking excellent actor.

Thats a fair statement Ahdude92 and to an extent i agree. Do you think it was the joker's class and comical attributes that were missing? Because with jacks joker those were there, his joker seemed more clinically insane but clownish , he was also unpredictable ("Bob gun!(Bang) LOL. I think the adaptions of joker on screen have been cast brilliantly but the next installment will go back to Jack/Hamill type of joker. Whats your favscene from B89 and TDK where you thought ' THATS JOKER'

Allright then. What I liked about him was that he fitted really well into the Nolan Batman universe, which is much more realistic than the films preceding it (especially that horrible Batman and Robin garbage) and that he appeared to be an anarchistic maniac but eventually was revealed to be a really calculating and highly intelligent... well maniac. It is a different approach to the character, I see that, but still I think the character is missing some important attributes he normally is given.

Youre the fucking idiot for only citing one single source. The joker as a character is older than than the Killing joke, and has more facettes to it than the gloomy emo lunatic that today seems to be so popular. Look at the Long Halloween. I could now name other examples, but since you seem to like the "Single-Source-Only" way of argumentation, I wont. But what do I care about you anyways, given your tone you seem to be a nolan fanboy through and through, so why waste my breath on a dimmwit

try the interrogation scene, the fake batman threat scene and the last scene where he gets thrown off and also where he is upside down . fucking idiot its called a different adaption. Both read the killing joke also this version was well darker than nolan's and the age rating was a 15
