WAMI was a hyperlocal, independent English-language staition in Miami that lasted from 1998 until it was sold to Univision in 2000. It was owned by Barry Diller's USA Broadcasting. WAMI produced an unusual news program that was a cross between local news and "The Daily Show". Though low-rated, it was a critical and cult favorite thanks to its smart, snarky, and bold content. Unfortunately, Miami was probably the wrong market to attempt such a broadcast. This is the last broadcast from December, 2000. Ben Mankiewicz, the anchor, went on to host on TCM, TMZ, and "At The Movies". Many of the staff have gone on to national high-profile jobs.

Sort of like a pseudo "Daily Show". Minus the cuteness of Jon Stewart.
