The problem with these characters was that their faces were so plastic and smooth that people disliked them. That's why the movie didn't do good in the box office (and that devastated poor Jim Henson when studio producers didn't want to approve any more similar projects) Fluffy muppets were more acceptable even if the wires in their hands were visible. For some reason, they are a lot more appealing that these plastic dolls with their dead eyes and expressionless mouths.

@XxBeJeweledDancerxX I don't know what he had to do with it. Never know with these cults. He might not even have know why the symbol had to be shown, but I'm sure he knows something. Ironic if the puppeter was being pulled by strings. :P
