Cranfield Lightning XS458 April 2010

English Electric Lightning XS458 T5 based at Cranfield Airport, Bedfordshire. High speed taxi run. Unfortunately something went wrong so there was no static reheat or second run :o(

Next run 29th May 2010.

Thanks for replying, lets hope she is less temperamental at the end of the month then!

Was you always around the threshold of the runways or did you dash around there as she looked to taxi?

I was stood along the hedge that runs to the end of the runway where she starts her runs from. An excellent viewpoint for both the taxi and then the run. If she does 2 runs on 29th May I might try a different viewpoint for the second run. Fingers crossed she has a good day then! :)

Anyone know why it went tech?

Anyone seen a photo's on the web covering this days event?

Not sure, before the event I do know they did some work on the throttle linkage and replaced a fuel valve seal so perhaps something was not quite right there. Lightnings are very temperamental though. I haven't seen any photo's of the event on the net but I'll be taking photo's at the next one.

I doubt it as I am saving up for a European Airshow this year which needs passport and lots of money as it'll probably be a Russian one!
