The New York Central museum at Elkhart, Indiana has a fantastic model train layout, donated by the Bell family. Here is Amtrak P40 #805. Inside the museum are many artifacts, mostly related to the NYC and its predecessor lines in Indiana. Outside is a collection of prototype equipment, including a locomotive that you can go into, walk around inside, blow the horn, etc. Check it out!
Notice the Studebaker parked at the depot. Their cars were built at a factory in nearby South Bend, Indiana.
