http://dunbarplumbingforums.com/DUNBAR/ - Here is some information regarding how we resolve an issue with a gas water heater we initially installed that was not properly drawing exhaust gases from the water heater. Since the situation was incorrectly operating, the customer decided not to continure forward with new flue ducting and instead went with switching to an electric water heater.

In this process, the gas water heater had to be removed, gas line capped off. A creation of a circuit inside the breaker panel was the step taken to provide the correct connection to the water heater. Home depot or "GE" water heaters are rated at 4500 upper/lower watt elements that will require 10-2 wiring back to the panel, along with a 30 double pole breaker. Most water heaters are set up to operate at 220 which is 2-110 feeds.
