Ah.... why should I care? I mean, why do you use a chess clock? What happens in the game if my time expires? Why do I need the clock, again?
Myopic presentations do little to educate and inform the public. Try to explain this a bit better than you did. It does no good to say we need a chess clock and not know why we do.
Thanks!

I shall elucidate:
A. You should not care if you are not a chess player, have no OTB rating, etcetera.
B. Tournament chess games are timed. Thus, a serious player needs a clock. Also, it adds immensely to the intensity of games.
C. Run out of time—you lose the game.
D. You need the clock to play competitive chess.
