Who remembers these then?

Rescued, with permission, a couple from a soon to be demolished school for no reason other than that I have memories of them from school. They might be useful for something anyway - fairly powerful although the sound quality leaves something to desired. They're meant for P.A. not Hi-Fi after all. In this case I have the bass and treble controls on the coomber all the way up, and +6dB of treble and +16dB of bass set ony my iriver H320 running rockbox which improves things greatly but limits the usable volume as it crackles with too much bass input. Mono inputs so they require a device which will allow output in mono or appropriate/bodged cables to get both channels. They'll also run off 12v...

Speaker inside is an unknown brand "Made in the U.K." 15Ω.

Although these have been replaced by newer CD models (which still look mostly the same), Coomber will still build legacy products for you!

  • oh yes very well, your livingroom is "old's kool" coomber in future 2060.

  • @TheLui34 Haha. I don't think you understand the title. The Coomber is the cassette player and "2060" is the model number, nothing to do with the year!

  • @rjgscotland that's one of those comments where you go WHAT THE FUCK?

  • i had a coomber 210. from the late 70s and it pumped out around about 28 watts on a 10' speaker. believe it or not the speaker inside projected very well.

  • When I went to primary school they had quite a few coomber cassette players. their not just for schools, they make a good audio system in the home, especially if you connect speakers or an amplifier.

  • Nice old Coomber,a bit newer than mine l should say.l've no idea who made the speakers, perhaps Coomber made them themselves.Definately worth having, and a good find.We had the Goodsell equivalent at school in the 70s.
