Actually, Rheingold beer is being made again. There is some stores here in Michigan that sell it in longneck six packs.

@heine71 According to Wikipedia Schaefer was acquired by Stroh Brewing Company in 1981. Stroh was acquired by Pabst Brewing Company in 1999.Schaefer continues as a Pabst label.

The breweries are gone, but the beers are still around, brewed by others. Louie did a great Chrysler Plymouth jingle around 1969.

I've drank Schaefer's and I've drank Rheingold. Now I'm told neither is in business. They were both good beer. But had to quit beer a few years ago and switched to red wine. Now am told I must also give that up... Ahh the good old days... ;-)
